We are introducing a new type of insurance. Insurance against tick bites!
Warning! The period of activity of ticks has begun in Kyrgyzstan, as reported by the Center of State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance in Bishkek. As of May 21, 149, people have already turned to doctors with bites of insects. Tick-bite activity and bites are dangerous for the likelihood of contracting tick-borne encephalitis, a disease that affects the central nervous system. The danger of encephalitis lies in possible complications, leading to disability and death.
What to do if a tick bites you: ⠀
- Go to a doctor, to a medical center;
- If there is no medical center nearby, carefully grasp the tick with tweezers or fingers wrapped in clean gauze as close to its mouth as possible and, holding it strictly perpendicular to the bite surface, turn the body of the tick around its axis, extract it from the skin;
- In the absence of tweezers and gauze: tie a thread around the trunk of the tick and, swinging by the ends of the thread, gently pull the tick, taking care not to destroy its safety, and gently extract it from the skin;
- disinfect the bite site (70% alcohol, 5% iodine, and cologne).⠀
It is also important to know: encephalitis is characterized by spring and autumn season (April-September), because in this period ticks are most active. The incubation period (from the moment of infection to the appearance of the first signs of the disease) lasts about 7-14 days, with variations from 1 to 60 days.
